Faith-Hope-Love The Greatest of these is Love

I haven't posted for awhile so here is one of the new owl designs I have done with Prismacolor pencils. I love using lots of color in my designs as you can tell. This is one of my favorite bible verses.

When we put our Faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, then we have Hope and when we have Christ in our life we will feel unending LOVE and when this world passes away all that will remain is Love.
God IS Love

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

Talented Menagerie

I am submitting this piece of art to the Illustration Friday's weekly challenge which is "Talented"

This is a drawing of my pets painting a picture of my Husband Mark and I and our two dogs, Angel and Frankie.  The cockatiel "Baby Bird", lovebird "Lillian", Dutch rabbit "Jazzy" and Rex rabbit "Donut" are the artist's. I think they did an awesome job, better than I could have done because I don't draw realistic people very well, they are very talented animals..

Full Moon Bike Ride

This is a drawing I did called "FULL MOON BIKE RIDE"
I used owls of course because I think they would love to take a bike ride with their little owlets on a warm summer night in the glow of the full moon. I came up with this design because our town of Manitowoc, WI  is big into biking. Whenever there is a full moon bikers take to the Mariners Trail (a bike trail) along the shores of Lake Michigan and bike from the town of Manitowoc to the town of Two Rivers several miles away. The moon shining off the lake is sooo beautiful and it really is a nice family activity.

Once In a Blue Moon

I just love the way this illustration turned out. I was imagining a group of friends lazily flying in hot air balloon up into the sky and traveling through the universe on an adventure. Not knowing what they would encounter they were in awe of the activity that was going on that most earthly beings never see or can even imagine. This trip will be something they will always remember and will cherish the memories.

Fun Little Sketch for Illustration Friday - Myth

I call this one "Learning about the Birds and the Bees"
I drew this fun little sketch today and submitted it to the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to see if they will include it in one of their future Magazines. I also submitted it to Illustration Fridays weekly challenge. The challenge for this week was "Myth", This little mythical alien is hanging out on the moon learning about the birds and the bees with his friends, hopefully what he finds out will be all good. I will eventually color it in.  I have started sketching in my sketchbook again after a little lull and am finding new inspiration for ideas.

I have also updated my portfolio on SCBWI website, of which I am a member. You can have a look at it here http://www.scbwi.org

I like to do illustrative work and have mostly been drawing by hand, but I have decided to try my hand at digital art and purchased an Ipad4, I will post some pictures of some digital art after I figure out how to use the apps I have downloaded, so far I am learning Sketchbook Pro (brain overload), we will see what I can come up with :)

Here Fishy, Fishy

This is a funky little fish I drew on some colored textured paper with colored pencils and ink. I like to experiment with different papers to see what the results will be.

Can You Say "Psykko"

Ok, this piece is a little wild and off the wall. I had drawn it awhile ago and decided to color it in.  I used watercolor pencils on watercolor paper then I wet the colored areas to blend the soluble pencils.  I like it, it is fun and funky and a bit crazy. Can you see what stuff goes on in my head?  I am never bored...

MIXED MEDIA / STEAMPUNK ASSEMBLAGE

This piece I call, "Quest for the Key to Unlock the Mysteries of Area 51" super fun one to make.  It is a little bit Steampunk and Mixed Media.  Just trying to figure out how to put it together so it is sturdy was a project in itself, it is quite heavy as the coffee can is filled with aquarium gravel.   I have been starting to collect a stash of stuff to use in these type of projects.  I tell my husband....oohh you can't throw that out I can use it in a mixed media! so now he is afraid to get rid of anything without asking me first. I like it when the materials are rusty and show years of wear...adds to its character and patina.  I will try to keep the "junk collecting under control though.

2008 Christmas Card
These are pictures I did for a 2008 Christmas card I sent to my clients for my gardening business. It features a collage of all their pets in a fun, whimsical grouping. The cover was all the dogs and the inside were the cats. I did the artwork with prismacolor markers. Kind of a fun project to do.
