Once In a Blue Moon

I just love the way this illustration turned out. I was imagining a group of friends lazily flying in hot air balloon up into the sky and traveling through the universe on an adventure. Not knowing what they would encounter they were in awe of the activity that was going on that most earthly beings never see or can even imagine. This trip will be something they will always remember and will cherish the memories.

Things With Wings

I've been experimenting with this new technique (new for me). I soak a 5 x 7 piece of watercolor paper overnight in either coffee or wine and then let it dry. I then ink in my drawing and color it with Prismacolor colored pencils....loving the results, fun, fun. This is a lovely butterfly with such colorful wings, I would love to see such a beautiful butterfly, but for now it has fluttered out of my mind and into an art design.

Fun Little Sketch for Illustration Friday - Myth

I call this one "Learning about the Birds and the Bees"
I drew this fun little sketch today and submitted it to the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to see if they will include it in one of their future Magazines. I also submitted it to Illustration Fridays weekly challenge. The challenge for this week was "Myth", This little mythical alien is hanging out on the moon learning about the birds and the bees with his friends, hopefully what he finds out will be all good. I will eventually color it in.  I have started sketching in my sketchbook again after a little lull and am finding new inspiration for ideas.

I have also updated my portfolio on SCBWI website, of which I am a member. You can have a look at it here http://www.scbwi.org

I like to do illustrative work and have mostly been drawing by hand, but I have decided to try my hand at digital art and purchased an Ipad4, I will post some pictures of some digital art after I figure out how to use the apps I have downloaded, so far I am learning Sketchbook Pro (brain overload), we will see what I can come up with :)
